Financial strategy for South African dental practices

Is Your Dental Practice Profitable on Paper but Struggling with Cash Flow?

Running a successful dental practice requires more than treating patients. Medical aid payment delays, outstanding patient accounts, equipment financing, payroll obligations and tax compliance can place considerable pressure on your practice’s finances.

Revenue Bridge provides specialised financial advisory and management solutions designed around the operational realities of South African dental practices.

Your Dental Practice Deserves More Than Accounting. It Deserves Financial Strategy.

The challenge

Where Is Your Dental Practice Losing Financial Efficiency?

Medical Aid Payment Delays

Your practice renders services today, but medical schemes may take time to settle claims. Meanwhile, salaries, rent and suppliers still need to be paid.

Outstanding Patient Accounts

Uncollected patient balances and inconsistent follow-up procedures gradually weaken cash flow.

Equipment Financing

Dental chairs, imaging equipment, sterilisation systems and other specialised equipment create substantial capital commitments.

Financial Visibility

Without properly structured management accounts, it becomes difficult to understand which treatments, practitioners or services generate the best margins.

Tax and VAT Exposure

Dental practices require careful consideration of exempt supplies, taxable supplies, input VAT apportionment and applicable tax deductions.

Business Growth and Compliance

Payroll, company administration, provisional tax, CIPC obligations and financial reporting become increasingly complex as the practice grows.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Do you work with new and established dental practices?

Yes. Recently established practices usually need the right structures, equipment finance planning and tax planning from day one. Established practices usually need stronger cash flow, debtor control and better management reporting.

Why is my practice profitable but short of cash?

Most often because medical aid settlements and patient balances take longer to come in than salaries, rent and equipment repayments take to go out. We measure your collection period and settlement cycle, then build a cash flow forecast around it.

How does VAT work for a dental practice?

Many dental services are treated differently from other supplies such as product sales, so input VAT may need to be apportioned. Every practice is different, and each transaction is assessed against the applicable South African legislation.

Can you connect our practice software to Xero?

We assess each case individually. It depends on the software provider's API access, licensing and permissions. Systems we commonly see include GoodX, Solumed, CGM XDENT and Elixir Live.

Do you need patient information for the assessment?

No. The assessment only asks about the practice's business and financial position, mostly in ranges. Please don't include any patient names, ID numbers or clinical information.
